Me?...A Triathlon?...
An
introduction to the concept of multi-sport activity rolled into one event, the triathlon. Triathlons come in various distances and our mini triathlon is designed for the inexperienced, beginners, youngsters, or anybody. Using the best rated individual activities, such as swimming, biking and run or walk, as the format, it's easy to realize the impressive growth and popularity in the sport. Also, the need for aerobic exercise in our society, with low impact activities, even more beneficial.

The distances involved in our mini triathlon makes it accessible as a long range goal for the widest range of people. Swim will be 50 yards in shallow lake water. Bike will consist of a distance of 3.1 miles followed with a run or walk of 1/2 of a mile. The biggest challenge here would be a commitment to accomplish a long range goal that can spur greater challenges in the future. The important ingredient in preparation is some form of aerobic  activity done on a daily basis.
Ronald's Children Win!
The children of the Ronald McDonald House of Minnesota are true winners of the Fairmont Triathlon.  These children will benefit from the $500.00 recently donated from the proceeds of the 2007 Fairmont Triathlon.  Each year the committee will donate the proceeds of the race to the Ronald McDonald House of Minnesota.

A little about Fairmont...

Fairmont is a city in Martin County, Minnesota, United States.  It is located in south central Minnesota.  It is the county seat of Martin County. Fairmont is located just south of highway 15 and interstate 90 intersection.  There are an estimated 10,889 people, 4,702 households, and 2,962 families residing in the city.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 16.5 square miles, of which, 14.6 square miles of it is land and 2.0 square miles of it is water. The city of Fairmont itself has been built around a chain of five lakes; Lake George, Lake Sisseton, Budd Lake, Hall Lake, and Amber Lake, even though Amber Lake is not connected to the other four.

This agriculture community is a great place for a triathlon because it is held at Gomsrud Park, which is located between two of our beautiful lakes.  With Budd Lake on the north side of the park and Hall Lake on the south.  Both lakes provide wonderful swimming opportunities for the community and visitors alike.  Gomsrud Park is a great shady family park.  With a nearly new bathhouse and a shaded playground area, it allows for fun and relaxation for everyone in the family.
